In 1873, Jacob Rohner, from Switzerland, created his first workshop with only 8 sewing machines and in 1878, his products were already being shipped abroad. That’s when the story truly began. In very little time, his brand generated a great enthusiasm along with a great commercial success all over the world pushing him to travel to the United States and then in Asia.

In 1930, Jacob Rohner had the revolutionary idea to create a sock company in the little town of Balgach, on the Swiss side of the Rhine Valley, with the ambition of creating high-end socks in term of manufacturing quality, comfort and design. Rohner stands out from the crowd with its use of circular knitting machines, nobles materials and most of all, thanks to its great attention to details. And the result is incredible. The sequel to Rohner’s story:

In 1980, Rohner broke new grounds by creating an anti-skid system, the SupeR, that transformed the socks it was fitted on into the bestseller of the brand. In 1989, Jacob Rohner founded a new company in Portugal, Jacob Rohner Texteis, in Oliveira de Frades.

In 2002, compression socks appeared on the market. In 2011, the Rohner Rock, the first socks specially designed for climbing entered the scene. 2012 was a highly successful year as well with the launch of the Rohner Online Store. In 2013, the Your Next Footprint strategy introduced organic socks made of Cotton.

Since 2015, Rohner offers a range of Bioceramic fiber socks, able to isolate the warmth of the body. This specific fiber has anti-odour and antibacterial properties. In 2017, some of Rohner models are even fitted with carbon to improve comfort and sweat evacuation while helping muscle performance.

Nowadays, Rohner focuses its sock production in Portugal, Italy and Germany. Still true to its core values, the company chooses its providers and materials as thoroughly as ever. Its R&D department is working unrelentlessly to create products as close to perfection as possible, always putting new technologies and innovations at the heart of their approach.
