Description
The latest addition to the Speedmax range and presented at the Nordic World Skiing Championships in Seefeld, the Speedmax 3D presents some interesting design innovations. The Fischer brand is constantly looking for small details that can optimize the performance of the skis, the latest Speedmax range is once again an example of this.
What are the characteristics of the Fischer Speedmax 3D Skate Cold Stiff cross-country ski?
We will first of all focus on this ski's favorite playground, cold snow from around -5°C and compact. A program finally versatile enough for a cold sole especially since it is quite common to find well compacted snow in these temperatures at the beginning of the season. Concerning the new features, Fischer has developed the innovative 3D concept on the edges. They are now made of the same material as the soles and can therefore be waxed. Be careful, we are talking here simply about liquid waxing, like the latest HF Vauhti made to be applied cold and brushed with nylon. The biggest advantage of this system is that it leaves a hydrophobic surface treatment on the edges so that the snow doesn't get stuck. For the rest of the construction, we stay on the basis of the old versions which are already more than efficient. A honeycomb core with carbon plating for maximum liveliness at the end of the thrust. On this Stiff version, the camber is particularly present in order to meet the needs of compact snow or powerful jigs. The sensations at the feet are excellent, with a good recovery at the end of the push and a very easy flattening of the ski as soon as the foot is put down. Very effective on the relaunch and stable in direct trace, it is a very good mix between aggressiveness and softness when putting the foot down. Equipped with the IFP plate, they are designed for Turnamic bindings, the standard that came out two years ago has already taken its place and now equips all Fischer skis. This standard is compatible with the NNN, Prolink and Turnamic systems. Fischer's technicians are experts in the field and still deliver a magnificent ski, powerful and easy to ski.
Beware! Fischer top of the range skis are delivered pre-waxed in order to best protect the soles during transport. It is therefore normal that you find soles with paraffin and the ski must be scraped at home before the first use.
Who is the Fischer Speedmax 3D Skate Cold Stiff cross-country ski intended for?
It is a ski made for purists, enthusiasts, those who know the importance of having an exclusive and high performance model such as this one for certain snow conditions. Made for cold and compact snow it is a ski of complement particularly useful in a cover at the beginning of the season. Skiers who enjoy long-distance races know that this type of option is not to be neglected.
