Your buying guide for cross-country ski fluor stick wax:
Do you need some help before making your decision? The following tips should be useful then! And if you need more information, we also have a tutorial on the different kinds of grip wax in our “Tutorial" section.
What's a fluor stick wax?
Designed for competition, the fluor stick waxes are used in the same conditions that the standard ones. For a good grip, the snow should be fresh and with a low moisture rate. They will guarantee you a good grip during the support phases and limit the friction effect to the maximum thanks to their hydrophobic properties. Your gliding phases will become smoother and you will save up a lot of strength.
How do I use it ?
The application is similar to the standard version. Crayon both sides of the central groove of the wax chamber and then smoothen the lot with a cork until you get an homogenous layer.
For a successful waxing, choose a stick wax that fits the snow temperature. Each color matches a specific temperature range so use a thermometer to make sure to get it right. Indeed, a wax too hot will let snow build up under your waxing zone and prevent you from gliding while a wax too cold will make it impossible to get a good thrust.
