Description

The Amplid Big Kahuna is a wide snowboard with a width of 27.6 cm, making it wider than average to prevent ‘boot drag’ for snowboarders with large feet, where the tips of the boots touch the snow during turns.

What is the Amplid Big Kahuna snowboard made for?

This is the quintessential all-mountain freeride board. Directional in shape, it features a tapered tail with a unique cut and a slightly set-back stance, making it easier to float in powder and initiate turns. Its profile combines a moderate traditional camber with rocker at both tips, ensuring good edge hold, smooth transitions from edge to edge, and ease in the backcountry. With a balanced flex, neither too stiff nor too soft, it remains playful while offering responsiveness in carving, thanks to the longitudinal carbon reinforcement that increases the board's rebound. The result is an extremely enjoyable snowboard to manoeuvre, allowing for varied turns across the entire mountain, regardless of conditions. It is even possible to perform some tricks in the side country, as it remains balanced enough for switch riding.

Who is the Amplid Big Kahuna snowboard aimed at?

This board is ideal for intermediate to advanced riders looking to elevate their game. It suits those who are already comfortable on various terrains and types of snow and who aim to reach the next level while enjoying every descent.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
