Description

This ultra-light package includes the KaraKoram bindings. Designed for touring, the Explorer follows the trends and splits into two climbing skis for the uphill bits of your tour until you clip it back together for ripping the downhill with your snowboard. The Explorer is Jones' new splitboard for 2015. Boasting high performance features such as Bamboo sidewalls or Mellow Magne Traction, the board is shaped for handling any conditions you may encounter through your trip. From deep powder to chop and crud, the board remains stable and responsive inspiring confidence for exploring further and further.

What our testers say : The splitboard package for adventurous freeriders who need the right tool for their tours for reaching the best spots. The KaraKoram bindings are high quality bindings bringing lightweight to a whole level. That makes ascents effortless. Snowboard-wise, the directional shape and the rocker help the board floating with ease on the deep while the Magne Traction keeps you locked into turns on harder snow. A great versatile products for any rider who wanted to buy a SplitBoard.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
