Description

Look at that baby. I bet you've never seen a board like this. Ride's Alter Ego is new for 2015 and it's already a rockstar. This freeride/backcountry quiver features an innovative shape giving the board a versatile character. If it comes with Ride superior construction incorporating woodcore, carbon reinforcements or Popwalls sidewalls for added responsiveness, the real new thing on this board is this kinda weird Split tail. Split, but not completely, that's the strangest thing. Either you ride it unclipped for the loose and controllable feel of a split tail, or you clip it back together and you get the firm and supportive feel of a standard tail. It's like having two different boards in one package.

What our testers say : The board was absolutely amazing. Every year comes with its load of new technologies and most of them aren't really changing anything, but this one is. The Split tail completely changes the way the board works. It behaves like a true hard charging freeride board when the tail is clipped but it's a little more demanding. Unclip it and you get the opposite, especially on powder, the split tail enhances the board's manoeuverability and delivers a looser / surfier feel. The tail is a bit stiffer than the nose which gives the board lots of drive and better floatation. Suited for advanced and expert freeriders.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
