Description

Another new board comes in Salomon's 2015 collection. The Derby. A nice all-terrain deck inspired from the Powder Snake which Salomon dropped this year. The board features an Aspen Strong core and a Flat Out Rocker profile which Salomon riders already know from the previous seasons. The real new thing with that board is the Rocket Science tech it carries. It means the board is 1 cm wider at the waist and 5cm shorter in length. It enhances the playful character of it and makes it more stable. The wider nose keeps the board afloat on powder naturally and allows riders to play with their board regardless of the terrain.

 

What our testers say : Freestyle backcountry board that rides short and therefore that feels agile like a snake. The shorter length makes tricks a lot easier to spin and doesn't affect the floaty feel delivered. A very playful partner of choice for advanced freestyle riders who like dropping a cliff or dancing through the trees without having to think too much.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
