Rock climbing pants, climbing T-shirts and climbing shorts: how to choose your climbing outfit?
To enjoy rock climbing fully, just like for any other sport, it is best to have the appropriate outfit. In this particular case, for rock climbing, it is a matter of adapting your outfit to an activity where you realise moves requiring flexibility and the use of numerous muscles. Therefore, this activity requires perfect freedom of movement, which should be preserved thanks to lightweight, breathable and stretch clothing. Another important criterion is resistance. If you climb indoors, and deal with particularly abrasive artificial walls, you then need tear-resistant clothing to protect your skin. The T-shirt can be long-sleeved too, to better cover and protect the skin, just like you can prefer pants for the same reason. Coming back from a rock climbing session with irritated or scratched skin never feels good, especially when showering.

Are you looking for a women’s climbing outfit, or climbing clothes for men?
At Glisshop, we offer a selection of clothes from dedicated brands. These brands, such as Black Diamond, Five Ten, La Sportiva or Snap, have developed technical garments answering the needs of rock climbers, for example by using stretch fabrics, while being trendy. You will find on this page, rock climbing T-shirts, shorts, and pants for women and men with which you will be able to climb inside and/or outside.
Sleeveless, short-sleeved or long-sleeved T-shirts? Shorts or pants?
The answers to these questions depend on personal preferences and the environment you climb in. A tank top may seem like the most suited to climbing as if offers optimum freedom of movement. However, a long-sleeved T-shirt has the triple advantage of protecting your skin against scratches, UV light when climbing under the sun in summer or protecting you from the cold if you are route climbing and the wind is chilly. You can of course find simple and lightweight tank tops made of cotton, perfectly suited to indoor climbing, but we also offer more technical clothes, like long-sleeved tee-shirts offering UV protection, while being breathable, lightweight and made of stretch fabric, with durable seams.
It is possible to consider the bottom of your outfit in the same way. Is it better to climb in shorts to be perfectly sure of your freedom of movement, exposing yourself to the risk to end the session with reddened or even bloody knees? Or is it not a good idea to invest in good climbing trousers, also made of stretch and durable fabric, to avoid scratching your skin while preserving total freedom of movement?
