Skateboard bearings

Which bearings for your skateboard?

Bearings are probably the most technical part of a skateboard. A ball bearing is made of 2 races with balls rolling between them. The outer race touches the wheel while the inner one touches the truck axis. The small balls in between are designed to reduce friction while supporting the load (i.e. you). Skate bearings offer different performance though. You have probably heard of ABEC (Annular Bearing Engineer Council) which is the most used norm for bearings. The higher the ABEC goes, the better the bearing rolls. But a high ABEC will be more fragile as well so you need to consider what you are going to do with your board.
