Description

Surf shaper Chris Christenson and Jeremy Jones, freeride legend and founder of Jones Snowboards, have been working together for years now to offer boards with innovative shapes for a unique riding experience. The Mind Expander is a great example of the result. This is the holy grail for any rider looking for the ultimate powder weapon, without making too much compromise on other terrains.

What is the program of the Jones Mind Expander snowboard?

You can’t say it goes unnoticed. With its very directional shape, starting with a generous nose with pronounced rocker tapering to a narrower tail, you can tell it packs a lot of punch by looking at it. The setback stance works so well with this ideal shape for turns and float that it feels like surfing. In addition, with the FSC certified Bamboo Surf Core which offers responsiveness while being light and playful, the Mind Expander is truly a very fun board to ride. You will have fun slaloming between trees and working on unique lines, throwing butters and other creative tricks. While its strength is powder riding, it works very well on groomers as well where it retains some grip, even if it shows its limit on the hardpack snow of faces that don’t see the sun. However, it retains its playful and fun behaviour and inspires you to vary your turns and send some freestyle tricks!

Who is the Jones Mind Expander snowboard for?

Accessible from the intermediate level, this model will satisfy a wide range or snowboarders up to very advanced, looking for a "sensation" board, perfect to enjoy deep conditions but also pleasant to ride on groomers and side hits.

What are the main assets of the Jones Mind Expander snowboard?

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
