Alpine Ski Black Diamond Link 105

Ski sold without binding.

Black Diamond finally unveil their free touring line of skis which bridges the gap between freeriding and touring. Their name: the Link. The series incorporates 3 skis each having a specific width. Choose the one that best suits you and go shred!

What can the Black Diamond Link 105 do?

The Link 105 is the widest Link and therefore the most freeride-oriented one. We may be stating the obvious but this ski was designed with deep powder and untracked slopes in mind. But above this, the most important was to make it light. Black D stripped down the ski until they got rid of every unnecessary materials. They utilised a paulownia woodcore offering lightweight and responsiveness as well as agility. Just use it with skins on and begin climbing to realise how light it is. Despite a 105mm waist you’ll make your ascents easily and keep your legs fresh and happy for the descent. On the downhill, you should have more fun than a cat playing with a ball of wool. The ski floats and manoeuvers elegantly through the deep allowing skiers with ambitions to progress their freeride game. On the other hand, if there isn’t much powder in the resort, the Link handles hard snow very well and delivers reactivity and precision on it. In other words, the Link 105 is a consistent ski that works up and downhill, on and off piste. What else could you possibly want?

Who is the Black Diamond Link 105 designed for?

We recommend the model to advanced skier looking for a fat freetouring ski that’s light enough to be brought anywhere on the mountain. Effortless when skinning up and mindblowing when skiing down, the Link 105 is a great choice.

Structure - Construction

  • 3D Sandwich  :

The 3D Sandwich technology offers the best geometry possible to help you on demanding torsion.

  • Pre-preg fibreglass  :

This technology allows to control precisely the amount of epoxy resin used in each ski and helps maximising durability and stiffness. You get a lighter ski with the same durability, precision and skaibility.

  • Paulownia core  :

Light wood that grows fast and is easily renewable. Same resistance as poplar and same weight as balsa.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Technology

  • Rocker  :

Rocker isn't designed only for powder anymore. It is a versatile tool helping on turn inititations, soft turns, and changing radius. The rocker provides wide skis with agility, and narrow skis with floatation. Depending on how the rocker rises, the ski delivers different performance. Black Diamond has sorted their skis into 3 categories : Rocker, Semi-Rocker and Traditional.

Rocker type

  • Tip rocker  :

Skis are more manoeuvrable, contact points on the skis are placed in order to reduce the effective running length, which allows easier pivot and a better float.

  • Semi rockered tail  :

the rocker rises between 151 and 275mm.

Various

  • Skin Lock  :

    Slot for touring skins.
