SKI 2016 : Présentation de la gamme BULL de chez BLIZZARD, par Jérémie, conseiller ski chez

Alpine Ski Blizzard Cochise

Ski sold without binding.

Blizzard brings back its line of freeride all-mountain skis known for the power they deliver. If you want to rule the entire mountain with a ski making no compromise, you’ve come to the right place.

What can the Blizzard Cochise do?

When Blizzard designed this ski, they wanted high freeride performance without compromising all-terrain versatility. Featuring a beech and poplar woodcore, the ski delivers a fluid and forgiving feel that encourages skiers to pick up speed and face steeper slopes. Forgiving, but not weak, the ski is reinforced with two layers of titanal giving more underfoot power and added stability at high speed, allowing skiers to charge down wide powder fields and destroy any obstacle with a ridiculous ease. The Cochise is super floaty thanks to a rockered tip enhancing manoeuverability as well as buoyancy. The powerful side of the ski comes from the traditional camber running underfoot, it gives the ski more rebound, harder breaking power on difficult terrains and it maximises edge control on hard snow. All of these specs together make an awesome freeride ski that’s going to get you hyped of powder is your thing.

Who is the Blizzard Cochise designed for?

With a decent waist width, not too wide not too narrow, and many lengths available, the Cochise is suited for most skiers. From advanced to expert level, from freeriders to all-mountain rippers, the Cochise is a partner of choice.

What are the main assets of the Blizzard Cochise?

Structure - Construction

  • Sandwich Construction Compound Sidewall  :

Sandwich construction with phenol sidewalls. It incorporates the IQ bindings system. The sandwich construction is part of a quality ski. This construction layers different materials chosen for their physical characteristics depending on the characteristics needed for the ski.

  • Double Titanial Layer  :

Titanium reinforcement layers above and below the core. Titanium is a light and strong metal that resists against corrosion. It delivers precision, grip, smoothness and stability on all terrains.

  • Flip core  :

Blizzard Flip Core is the revolutionary new rocker technology for blizzard's freeride line. Natural spring, lightweight floating in powder, while yet retaining excellent stability are the immediate advantages of Blizzard's new construction. All of this is made possible through the flipped wood core, whose downward-facing convex side forms the natural rocker shape of the ski, without having to bend or artificially shape the ski in a press. This allows the rocker construction to reach a previously unknown level of stability and even pressure distribution.

  • Lite Core  :

This technology was quite particularly studied to satisfy the specific needs for the skiers freeride and of today all-mountain. Isocore and bamboo cores use allows to lower the weight.

  • Sidewall  :

    Better Energy Transmission :

    - Constant edge pressure over the entire length of the ski

    - Dynamic force distribution from edge to edge

    Increased Impact Strength :

    - Direct handling

    - Increased stability of the entire construction

    - Longlife construction

    - More impact resistant

    Increased Torsional Stiffness :

    - Stable edge grip

    - Perfect control

    - Highest carving performance

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.
