What differentiates the Agent and La Machine ranges?
The Agent range offers a classic but high-performance construction, while the La Machine range, introduced in 2022, stands out with an innovative approach focused on lightness and manoeuvrability, ideal for mastering deep powder. La Machine is designed with eco-friendly materials and advanced technology, offering models suitable for various disciplines.
Faction Agent and Agent X Touring Skis
The Agent range for men and the Agent X range for women feature 7 pairs of skis with different widths but identical construction. The secret recipe of these touring skis is a lightweight Karuba core, combined with a carbon fibre weave that increases stiffness and stability while retaining the core's lightness. This combination of materials, coupled with a shape that offers manoeuvrability thanks to its double rocker and pronounced traditional camber, allows for a ski that is effective in the climbs and epic in the descents.
From Light Touring to Freeriding
With waist widths ranging from 86 to 116 mm for men and 86 to 106 mm for women, the Agent range covers all needs and conditions. From light touring to all-round touring, to freeriding, everyone can find their match with these Faction skis and enjoy every session.
La Machine touring skis
The La Machine range comes in 5 different models with waist widths ranging from 91 to 126 mm: Micro, 2 Mini, 3 Mega, 4 Massive, and 5 Max. Each of these skis is dedicated to a specific discipline, from long-distance touring to freeriding in deep powder. The La Machine skis are characterised by their lightness, manoeuvrability, and power, thanks to an innovative construction that incorporates bio-resin, as well as a paulownia core, an extremely light wood, sandwiched between carbon strips for added stability.
The La Machine touring skis perfectly complement Faction's offerings. They provide options for all levels and styles, confirming the brand's commitment to performance and innovation.
How to choose the right Faction touring skis?
The choice of your Faction touring skis depends on your current level, goals, skiing style, and snow conditions.
- The first step is to determine your discipline. If you prefer light touring around the slopes, without venturing too high in the mountains, the Agent range should be more suitable. On the other hand, if you are more oriented towards freeride, planning to navigate through deep powder, the La Machine range will be more appropriate.
- The second step is to consider your skill level. Beginner or intermediate skiers might find the Agent range more accessible, while advanced or expert skiers might prefer the challenges offered by the La Machine models.
- Finally, the third step: take into account the technical specifications. The waist width, ski weight, core type, construction technologies (e.g., carbon fibres) are important factors. Each of these elemnts contribute to the lightness, stiffness, stability, and manoeuvrability of the skis. Choose according to your preferences.
How to progress with Faction skis?
- If you are a beginner or intermediate touring skier, start with a forgiving and accessible model, like those in the Agent range. This will allow you to start at your pace and develop your technique with confidence.
- Progression in ski touring depends on how often you ski. Try different terrains and conditions to improve your technique.
- Attending a course is a great way to build your skills, but also learn about safety in the mountains.
- As you progress, your equipment can evolve with more technically advanced touring ski models to be able to tour on more demanding terrains and conditions.
What level is required for ski touring with Faction models?
Faction's touring ski ranges are designed to accommodate skiers of all levels. The Agent range is the most accessible. It is suitable for beginners and intermediates, while the La Machine range is more suited to advanced/expert skiers.
To fully enjoy the La Machine models, we recommend having an advanced level in ski touring. Indeed, these models require a certain technical proficiency and good physical condition to manage their power and performance on different types of snow.
