This hard snow ski from the Madshus range is undeniably one of the highest-performing in the world, and the Norwegian brand has done a remarkable job in recent years to reclaim its place at the top.
What are the specifications of the Madshus Redline Skate F2 cross-country ski?
Unlike other brands, Madshus has designed its Redline range based on snow type rather than temperature. The F2 is specifically designed for hard snow, which it demonstrates with a long camber that provides wider spaced contact points, thus increasing aggressiveness. This choice is made possible thanks to the P300 Nano base, capable of adapting to all temperatures associated with compact snow, often negative but with various humidity levels. The glide performance is then optimised by the structure. By default, the F2 is equipped with a versatile structure for cold weather, but it is of course possible to customise the structures according to the conditions. The uniqueness of the Redline F2 lies in its central groove under the base, shorter than on racing models. One might think that this reduces stability, but this is not the case, thanks to the very flat Javelin spatula that offers a larger surface area. In terms of versatility, this is a real asset, as the ski becomes less directive in deeper and transformed snow. For the internal construction, Madshus remains true to its tradition with a high-density 3D PR 100X foam core, fully wrapped in a carbon shell. What we particularly appreciate in this construction is the perfect balance between dynamism at the end of the push and immediate stability as soon as the ski hits the snow. The F2 stands out as an alternative to other brands with a unique behaviour.
