ZAG: The trendy brand from Chamonix!

In the field of off-piste skiing since 2002, ZAG is increasingly establishing itself as one of the most daring ski designers of the moment. And it is no coincidence that every year passionate skiers compete for the new models as soon as they are released, because ZAG skis are above all skis with an innovative design and impressive powder performance.

From all-mountain to freeride and ski touring!

But how can we explain this dazzling success and the enthusiasm for ZAG? Let's dive into the brand’s history.

Bourg St Maurice – 2002

This is where it all started when the ZAG shaper launches his first ski: the Big 84, a revolutionary ski with a rocker to float in powder like a water ski. The success is dazzling and the following year ZAG ski is rewarded with an ISPO AWARD. Always at the forefront of innovation in off-piste skiing, ZAG launched its first double rocker freeride technology in 2008: the Rocker RX.

Chamonix - 2010

"The Freeride Company" then switched to a higher gear and moved in the heart of an iconic mountain spot: the Chamonix Valley. At the same time, the brand is opening a Pro Shop at the foot of Mont Blanc, THE spot for freeride skiing.

Birth of the Ubac 95 touring ski

2012 is the consecration for ZAG and its brand new UBAC freetouring ski, an ultra-light mid-fat ski with formidable handling in powder snow.

Birth of the ZAGLAB

Where the skis are designed before being manufactured in Europe – 2015

With the creation of the ZAGLAB in 2015, a leading centre for research and development made in Chamonix, ZAG now has complete control over the manufacturing process and is always at the forefront of new market trends!

Sustainability, performance, and innovation

Now perfectly located in the small circle of top-of-the-range freeride skis, ZAG's R&D and Marketing departments work hand in hand with the Be Pôles studio in Paris, which designs modern and colourful designs for ZAG. Recognition is immediate. The colour palette is bright and full of punch and the graphics of the skis now work in pairs.

But what is the secret behind these fun and modern skis? Simply top-of-the-range skis with high-quality Paulownia wood cores to offer optimal skiability and lightness as well as a constant search for innovation to create ever more revolutionary technologies every year: Rocker RX, Hybrid Carbon Glass Techno, ULKC Techno, LWC Techno.

Aware of the environmental issues the mountain world is facing, ZAG is fully committed to limiting its impact on our favourite playground. This is why the Chamonix-based company has set itself the goal of reducing by 30% the carbon footprint of every pair of skis in 2030. Using bio sourced, recycled or European-made materials are some of the ways the brand strives to rely on to meet its goal.
