Salomon has always been a forerunner in the world of Nordic footwear. The latest S/Labs were marvels of technology and Comfort but had one flaw, their price... So, Salomon worked on a new shoe trying to maintain maximum lightness and rigidity while drastically lowering the final price of the shoe. The bet was successful with this new S/Lab carbon Skate Prolink! 

What are the characteristics of the Salomon S/LAB Carbon Skate Prolink cross-country ski boot?  

Visually, it is difficult not to notice a different aesthetic and a big change in lines and construction. As far as the 100% carbon frame is concerned, Salomon has built on the old model with a moulded block that starts from the forefoot and wraps the heel with the lateral buttresses. The brand-new Carbon Loaded anatomical collar with a very different geometry is made of compressed carbon. The support and lateral thrust transmission are fantastic and when it comes to efficiency there is nothing to complain about. Where Salomon has done even better is on the liner, because in a shoe that is almost half the price of the old model, they have managed to keep a thermoformable and removable liner for maximum Comfort. Thermoforming in a wind tunnel is not obligatory, as the shoe takes the shape of the foot in just a few steps. As far as the fit is concerned, the well-known Salomon Quicklace system ensures an even fit without hard points. The boot wraps around the foot like a second skin and the ski's steering precision is improved. The metatarsal area is a little narrower than on older models. If your foot is a little strong, you should not hesitate to go up 2/3 of a size so as not to constrain your foot and let it lie flat. The Prolink sole glued over the carbon blade of the frame is particularly thin and ensures excellent feel and fast, precise thrust transfer. For a novelty, Salomon has hit the ground running! Making their World Cup shoe accessible to those who want a lightweight top-of-the-range model with simply magnificent manufacturing quality.
