At its origins in 1935, Salewa regrouped saddlers and leather craftsmen. In the mid 50’s, they started catering to alpinists going on expeditions with their first leather backpacks. Building on this success, the brand develops various pieces of equipment for climbers. This is how it created adjustable crampons that remain a benchmark to this day. Since the 70’s, it develops mountaineering equipment: boots, harnesses, carabiners, ropes, tents, sleeping bags … Today, the brand also designs apparel and footwear with Salewa backpacking, hiking, speed hiking boots and shoes.
