The Wayback 96 is one of the widest skis in the K2 Wayback touring ski series. With a 96 mm waist width and almost a 130 mm front spatula, you begin to enjoy the possibilities in the fresh snow. The construction features the Paulownia Tour Lite shell, reinforced by the titanium Ti Spyne plate at the binding inserts, and carbon stringers that stabilise the ski along its entire length. Finally, the Wayback 96 also benefits from the Snophobic technology, a specific coating that prevents the accumulation of snow on the top layer of the ski.

What is the programme of the K2 Wayback 96 ski?

With the Wayback 96, we start to enter the freerando ski category. Capable of great prowess in freeride, powder or mixed snow, freerando skis are nonetheless light enough to allow you to get off the beaten track. This model weighs only 1,397 grams per waist width in a size 186, allowing you to save your strength and quietly swallow the difference in altitude necessary to get to that spot loaded with powder. Once you are on the right side of the slope, you will enjoy good flotation and excellent lift, the latter facilitated by the double rocker. Manoeuvrable on all types of snow, the double rocker makes it easier to enter and exit curves and to pivot. You always maintain control of the ski, with the ability to turn short at the last moment. On hard snow, it easily finds the necessary grip thanks to its classic camber, while its construction gives it stability and bounce, even if it remains a fairly accessible and comfortable ski to ski on.

Who is the K2 Wayback 96 ski for?

We recommend this model to intermediate or advanced skiers with a fairly athletic profile, looking for a ski with which they can make short hikes to access new freeride spots, hoping to stumble on fresh snow!

Tips and advice

On, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of products we sell. How can you find the right skis, which ones can suit your level, your style or your budget?

Your options:

1. The advanced search engine: You'll find it everywhere on our website, as a sidebar on our listing pages. It allows you to select conditions and refine your selection: brand, level, style, etc. When you select them, only the relevant products will show.

2. You can contact us on the 020 3129 3301: skis feature fine technologies and affect your safety. It is important to make sure that the skis you've selected will suit you. Call our landline and get in touch with our team for any questions regarding these products.

During the process or your order, we'll ask you to complete a form about the mounting of your bindings. With these details, we will be able to mount the bindings with the correct settings. The release value of the bindings is set by a professional skiman, and according to the norm AFNOR FD S 52-748.

If you don't have your own ski boots when you order, the bindings will be pre-mounted. The final settings can be done :

- by a shop if you are renting your ski boots

- by our skiman : you can call us for any technical questions. Our skiman will do the final settings for you. Telephone : 020 3129 3301

All skis you purchase on our website are factory-waxed and tuned. This means they are ready to hit the slopes. However, gear tends to wear and in order to keep it in its best shape, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.

Maintaining your skis is essential for a smooth glide and a solit grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your skis, or on how damaged they are. We recommend you to wax them every 10 riding days and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't overdo it. Tuning is basically scraping off material. If you do it too often, the edges will vanish after some time.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge sharpeners, etc. You can find them on our website.

All products benefit from a manufacturer guarantee, as long as the damage is caused by a manufacturing defect (may it be hidden or obvious).

Usually, the manufacturer guarantee lasts two years.

Only the manufacturer is able to decide if there has been a 'manufacturing defect' or a 'misuse'. Glisshop is only an intermediary between you and the manufacturer.

The manufacturer's guarantee will not apply if the problem comes from a misuse.
