What is the perfect T-shirt to add to your rock climbing outfit?
The perfect climbing T-shirt depends on your preferences, the conditions and the style of climbing you do. Generally, just like any other item of climbing apparel, climbing T-shirts should allow maximum freedom of movement and quickly wick away the sweat generated during the activity. To achieve this, synthetic materials such as polyester are used, or even plant-base fibres, like lyocell made with wood cellulose. These materials wick moisture and dry more quickly than cotton. However, keeping some cotton in the composition of the T-shirt is not a bad idea, this allows to retain a fabric with a soft feeling on the skin. To improve even more the freedom of movement, it is possible to use elastane, an exceptionally stretch fibre. This has materials covered. Regarding the cut, the choice is yours, sleeveless, short or long-sleeved tee-shirt. It is a matter of balance between freedom of movement, lightness and protection. Protection against UV light, especially if the T-shirt offers a certified UV protection, but also protection against abrasion from the rock if you climb outdoors or the resin if you climb indoors.
