Merrell Speed Eco

The Speed Eco is a fast hiking shoe designed by Merrell that is a hybrid between a hiking shoe and trail shoe. It is derived from the Moab Speed model which makes it very lightweight with nice heel cushioning. But what sets the Speed Eco apart is primarily its eco-design which emphasises the use of recycled materials. This shoe is simply Merrell's most environmentally responsible model to date.

A model derived from the Merrell Moab Speed

With this model, Merrell offers the Moab Speed in an sustainable and responsible version. It features the same 10 mm drop that significantly inclines the shoe forward, encouraging speed and attack.

The overall cushioning is still impressive with a 50% recycled EVA foam insole, a generous EVA midsole, and a 30% recycled rubber outsole, all with a thick heel capable of absorbing all shocks and vibrations.

In terms of sustainability, there are also filly recycled laces and a 77% recycled jacquard upper.

Speed Eco WP: Waterproof models

Merrell offers this shoe in two versions: an ultra-breathable version without a waterproof membrane and a waterproof version denoted by the WP suffix.

The breathable models are perfect for hot summer days. The breathable mesh lining ensures quick sweat evaporation and prevents excessive foot heating, even during long runs.

The waterproof models, on the other hand, will keep your feet dry both in morning dew and when crossing streams or in rainy weather.

Ideally, you should choose the model based on the weather conditions you expect to face. But if you are looking for the most versatile pair of Speed Eco, do not hesitate to opt for the waterproof version.

Merrell offers this sustainably designed model for both men and women with sizes and weights suited for each. With the Merrell Speed Eco, everyone can enjoy a high-performance fast hiking shoe.
