That's why Merrell has equipped its Alverstone model with a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane that prevents water droplets from getting inside while allowing water vapor from sweat to escape through the mesh lining. With the Alverstone shoe, you can hike in the rain or cross streams while keeping your feet dry. However, be careful not to plunge your foot to the bottom of the river because the Gore-Tex membrane is effective, but if water goes over the top of the shoe, it can’t help you.
