The RCS is back for another season on the trails. The ski has been around for years, it’s constantly re-invented and upgraded to satisfy as many skiers as possible. Designed with performance and forgiveness in mind, the austrian manufacturer releases the new version in a new length and gave it a new IFP plate compatible with the new Turnamic bindings.
What are the specifications of the Fischer RCS Skate Plus Stiff IFP ski?
If the ski looks the same as the Carbonlite and the Speedmax, it comes with a different construction. Its tip and tail are not made of carbon which makes the ski more forgiving and easier to manage than its bigger brothers. Yet, we’re quite far from a soft and low-end ski, it’s quite the opposite. The RCS features a premium honeycomb core reinforced with carbon fibre enhancing lateral stiffness and lightweight, both enjoyable when you’re skating. You can rely on Fischer's best base for the glide. Designed to perform best on standard snow (between -5°C and +2°C), the base brings top-notch performance within the reach of most skiers. The Stiff camber makes the ski aggressive and efficient on hard snow but not untameable. It is lively and enjoyable, it offers a nice kick and a stable glide. The camber is here to help you skate better and faster, it’s not there to make things more difficult. The ski comes 1cm shorter compared to its previous version and features the new IFP plate compatible with the new Turnamic bindings. Don’t worry, these binding work with most current standard of boots including Prolink, NNN and the new Turnamic boots. They are not compatible with the old SNS standards.
Who is the Fischer RCS Skate Plus Stiff IFP cross-country ski designed for?
It is for everybody. Almost! The only category of skiers who may not like it is the racing one. But if you’re a casual skier or a recreational one and you need to progress your skating technique, then the RCS is a safe pick. It is also a very good choice for experienced skiers looking for performance and forgiveness. Even a beginner could start with it if he wanted to keep the ski for many years. The RCS Skate Plus is an iconic ski with a strong reputation and we cannot recommend it enough.
