Description

The Comp Skate is no exception to Alpina's rule of originality, which presents a brand-new concept of compressed carbon chassis and collar. At first glance it clearly looks like plastic, but no! This makes this shoe one of the best quality/price ratio of its range with the expertise that we know from the Slovenian brand and which does not elude the connoisseurs among you.

What are the characteristics of the Alpina Comp Skate cross-country ski boot?

The Comp Skate is the latest model in the Alpina range. It is not a revisited version of an existing model, but a new creation from the workshops of the Slovenian brand. They have therefore started from scratch to present this model, which therefore falls into the high-end category. The great novelty lies in the construction of the chassis/collar pair made of compressed carbon. This material, never before used in Nordic skiing, will appear on two brands in 2020. The big advantage of compressed carbon is its absolutely phenomenal weight/rigidity ratio and its elasticity. Moreover, this carbon is easier to mould than braided carbon, which makes it easier to make blocks in one piece. This Comp skate therefore benefits from a major novelty, namely a carbon frame which wraps the heel and to which the collar is directly attached. The perfect heel lock, which enables remarkable ski manoeuvrability and precision. The collar acts as an ankle stabiliser during foot placement. As well as during gliding times when it helps to keep the ankle axis firmly in place without constraining the malleoli thanks to its anatomical structure. The footwear is a little more generous than on the Elite and Pro models, which opens up this boot to skiers who are not yet familiar with ultra-precise race footwear. In terms of Comfort, one can hardly expect better in terms of the level of support of the boot. The Alpina lacing system with flat laces arranged at an angle of 45° provides optimal foot protection and optimises the ski performance. The 4Dry lace cover provides breathability and water repellence while positioning the gaiter closer to the foot for a snug fit. Yet another huge success for Alpina, which has given us a new boot shape with a state-of-the-art technology.

Who is the Alpina Comp Skate cross-country ski boot for?

The Comp Skate is an excellent compromise between precision and Comfort. It is particularly recommended for athletic skiers who wish to progress technically. From this perspective, it is one of the best possible alternatives. The collar and chassis made of compressed carbon provides a remarkable torsional rigidity which contributes towards developing good reflexes when installing the ski without creating strain. The compressed carbon is more elastic and therefore more forgiving. It is therefore a very good choice when it comes to passing a technical milestone with a comfortable boot of exceptional manufacturing quality.
