Movement Touring Ski Sets
What does Movement offer in terms of ski touring?
The Movement brand offers several ranges of ski touring equipment. We can find the Session range, oriented towards multi-purpose touring/free touring, the Axess range, oriented towards multi-purpose touring and open to a wider range of skiers technically, but Movement also offers other more exclusive and less demanded ranges such as the Race Pro range of skis for dry ascent and ultra-light touring. The Axess and Session ranges are the ones that will satisfy the greatest number of skiers, so these are the skis we have chosen to focus on.

Choosing the right Movement ski touring pack?
The two main ranges of touring skis at Movement are the Axess range and the Session range. At first glance, these two ranges may seem very similar. In fact, their constructions have a lot in common, such as the karuba wood core, Va-Tech cushioning technology and the P-Tex 4000 sole. The dimension lines are also quite similar, as is the progression of the ranges, since the Session is available in widths 85, 89 and 95, and the Axess is available in widths 86, 90 and 92. However, if these scales seem very close, it must be understood that they are actually quite different and do not target the same practitioners.
The main difference between these two ranges lies in the fibre structure, which is radically different between the Axess and the Session range. Indeed, Axess skis are equipped with a Carbon 2-axis structure, which allows for a reduction in weight as well as an increase in performance and skiing comfort by partially stiffening the ski in torsion. Session skis, on the other hand, are equipped with a 5-axis Carbon structure, which stiffens the slat much more intensely. Weight is minimal and torsional stiffness is maximum, resulting in a ski that is very nervous, stable and with a good level of grip, but much more demanding to ski.
This difference in fibre structure means that the Access range is designed for intermediate level ski tourers looking for an easy, comfortable and progressive ski touring experience, whereas the Session range is designed for experienced to expert freeskiers. Once you have placed yourself between these two categories, all you have to do is choose your ski width according to what you want to favour: lightness and comfort during ascents or flotation and skiability.
