Description

The Big Kahuna from Amplid is a big size snowboard, available in size 161W, meaning wider than usual to allow snowboarders with big feet to avoid toe dragging in the turns. Regarding its program, this board is all-mountain freeride oriented. It is directional with a tapered tail and features a specific cut out as well as a slightly setback stance, all these elements facilitate the floatability in powder and the turn initiation. Its profile with light classic camber and rocker at both tips provides secure grip, smooth edge transfers while facilitating the glide off-piste. The flex is well-balanced, neither too demanding physically nor too soft, offering playfulness and rebound in carving thanks to the longitudinal carbon stringer that enhances the board’s rebound. The result is a snowboard that is super pleasant to ride with which you can change the types of turn you do in the entire resort, no matter the conditions. You can even throw some tricks on side hits has it remains rather balanced in switch.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
