Description

The Big Kahuna from Amplid stands out as a large-format snowboard, featuring a generous 27.6 cm width. This above-average dimension is specially designed to prevent "boot drag" for riders with large feet, thus preventing the tips or heels of boots from rubbing the snow during turns.

What's in it for the Amplid Big Kahuna snowboard?

A true benchmark in versatile freeride, this directional board features a refined tail with a stance that's slightly offset to the rear. This design favors excellent lift in powder and simplifies curve entry. Its shape combines traditional moderate camber with rocker at the tips, providing reliable grip on piste while guaranteeing smooth edge transitions and ease of use off-piste. Thanks to its perfectly balanced intermediate flex and pop-enhancing longitudinal carbon reinforcement, it's just as much fun in big curves as it is in hard carving. The Big Kahuna also remains sufficiently balanced to have fun on piste edges or attempt a few tricks on switch.

Who is the Amplid Big Kahuna snowboard for?

This model is primarily aimed at snowboarders who have already acquired a good deal of experience on different terrains and types of snow. Ideal for those who want to push their limits while taking full advantage of every varied descent.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
