Description

Big sister of the Cool Bean, the K2 Special Effects is a snowboard specifically designed for powder. This shortboard surfboard is an invitation to slashing powder and carving. It is meant to be ridden between 4 to 10 cm shorter than your usual board size.

What is the program of the K2 Special Effects snowboard?

The Special Effects is fully dedicated to powder and backcountry runs. The short, wide, tapered shape and long swallow tail, the flat camber and pronounced tip rocker make it like this. As you understand, it’s not meant for big mountain freeriding but fun sessions, filled with side hits and forest runs. The board also has an impressive capacity to lift thanks to the very setback foot stance. Initiating turns can’t get any easier. Its Bambooyah core and carbon and fiberglass reinforcements provide stiffness for better stability without being too physical. Powder is its kingdom!

Who is the K2 Special Effect snowboard for?

We recommend the K2 Special Effect to intermediate and advanced snowboarders looking for a second board to have a blast on powder and fully enjoy deep days.

What are the main qualities of the K2 Special Effect snowboard?

Floatability

Manoeuvrability

Responsiveness

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
