Description

When Lib Tech engineers threw in the Skunk Ape a C2 Power Banana profile, they knew what they were doing. They were building one of the best freestyle / backcountry board ever made by human hands. Combining natural floatation, extreme manoeuverability and character, the board sends tricks off natural booters as if it was easy. But the guys at Lib Tech are riders too and they know conditions aren't always great, so they gave the board the Magne Traction technology ensuring a better edge grip on hard snow. The Columbian Gold/Power A core and its basalt reinforcements make the board super stable at high speeds so you can ride as hard as you can, you'll still be far from the board's limits.

 

What our testers say : The Skunk Ape is a directional BC board suited for advanced all-mountain riders who'd rather surf the deep when they can than carving the hardpack. The board does both though, but we have to admit it particularly excels on deep powder where it's got that powerful and playful feel freestylers love. Your 180 to switch tail press will be ridiculously stylish, trust us.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
