Description

The XV returns for 2015 and remains Xavier De Le Rue's weapon of choice. The split version of the board is continued too. The 2 boards are definitely into freeriding and the split one can even be defined as a touring snowboard. As a reminder, a splitboard is a board that splits into a pair of skis for climbing uphill but that rides like a snowboard on the downhill.

The XV Split is exactly the same as the XV. It's got a directional shape with a wider nose and an Amptek Allmountain profile. That makes the board incredibly floaty and extremely agile. The traditional camber combined with the Magne Traction technology gives the board a solid edge grip so you can rely on it in the worst conditions. The basalt reinforced THC CBF core gives the board reactivity and stability which you'll enjoy when riding rough terrains.

What our testers say : Split version of the XV. We recommend it to advanced and expert riders who know what they're going for. The board is stiff and demanding, it will make you happy if you like it when the slope is steep and ungroomed and if you like speed. It's not a board designed for goofing aroung the piste, it's a board that likes daily powder forays.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
