Description

The Weston Japow is an ultra-directional board, with a voluminous and very rocky nose, binding inserts set back to the limit and an ultra-pronounced swallow tail. It's simply the ultimate powder shape, and the name Japow is obviously a reference to the legendary Japanese powder on the island of Hokkaido. Whilst many boards in this shape are designed to be ridden short, the Weston Japow comes in 'normal' sizes, ranging from 154 to 169cm. 

What is the programme of the splitboard Weston Japow?  

As you can see, the Japow is above all made for powder snow. It floats like you've never floated before and is ultra-flexible thanks to the very backward position which makes turns easy. On the other hand, don't expect to switch with it, it's almost mission impossible, except possibly on hard snow, but that's not very interesting. On hard snow and in the right direction, it has a good grip thanks to the camber section, and the carbon reinforced tail that ensures recovery and stability. This remains a board with an intermediate flex, designed for smooth surf style turns rather than long turns at Mach II.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
