Children's Sunglasses Buying Guide:
Sunglasses are essential for the safety of your child's eyes. Their eyes are still developing and cannot filter all UV rays until the age of 12. This is why sunglasses offer optimal protection by preventing any damage. In addition, your kid is unaware of the dangers of the sun and might look directly at it without blinking, which can burn the retina if the exposure is prolonged. With junior sunglasses, all these dangers are avoided, and you can let your child play safely outdoors.
Choosing high-quality lenses
When choosing lenses, two things need to be considered: the protection index and the lens category. These two elements are distinct! The protection index is defined by the choice of material. For children's sunglasses, the lenses are made of polycarbonate, a lightweight, impact-resistant material that filters 100% of UV rays, perfect for children's activities. As for the lens category, it refers to the amount of light that passes through the lens. The higher the lens category, the darker it is, and the less you are affected by glare. Children's sunglasses often have category 3 or 4 lenses, which are considered dark. A category 4 lens is reserved for very intense light conditions, such as during activities on the sea or in the mountains where water and snow reflect a lot of light. In other cases, a category 3 lens is sufficient, offering good protection while still providing clear vision in slightly cloudy weather.

Choosing a frame suitable for your child's age
The size of the frames varies according to your child's age. It should be adapted to the shape of their head to provide total stability and maximum comfort.
For children under 2 years old, we refer to baby sunglasses. This type of model is designed with a rounded shape at the nose to fit their nasal bones. A polyurethane frame is preferred because it fits the face well while being very soft and durable. A frame that also completely covers the eyes of your little one for maximum protection. If the frame is equipped with a headband, that's even better! Your baby is less likely to lose their glasses when playing.
For children aged 2 to 4, you need to choose wider lenses to optimise the field of view and cover the entire eyes. The frame does not need to be fully wraparound or have an elastic band; it is more similar to adult models. A cord remains a must-have to ensure the glasses stay with your child.
Children's sunglasses for ages 4 to 6 start to get serious about style, with coloured lenses and varied, trendy frame shapes. You can even find sport-specific glasses with curved temples and rubber reinforcements on the nose pads for better stability. Girls can also enjoy very girly models. The frame remains flexible, and a cord is still recommended.
From children's aged 6 to 8, you can start choosing more rigid frames like adult models. The cord is no longer necessary except for active sports. This is the case, for example, with children's ski sunglasses, where stability is crucial.

Sunglasses for kids’ aged 8 to 10 come in various shapes and colours with frame sizes suited to this age group. You can even find glacier glasses to follow their parents on high-altitude expeditions.
Finally, sunglasses for teenagers aged 10 to 15 are modelled entirely on adult designs, with the only difference being the frame size. Your teen can start to express their style by choosing the frame shape that best matches their outfit.
