Alpine Ski Atomic Backland Bent Chetler

Ski sold without binding.

Is it still necessary to introduce the Chris Benchetler’s pro model, the Atomic Backland Bent Chetler and its 120mm waist ? True backcountry bomb, this super fat ski comes back again this year with a new top sheet signed by the master himself. When the ski is so wide that it doesn’t even fit in the hand, it won’t be unnoticed. This 2017 version is endowed with the HRZN technology: an horizontal tip rocker; a double tip rocker and a light carbon construction.

What can the Atomic Backland Bent Chetler ski do?

The hardest with this ski, is to wait that the faces get loaded with enough powder. Once you get big dumps, that’s it, realise the beast and get ready for take off. The Backland Bent Chetler smashes everything on its path. Crud, crusty snow nothing can resist it. True powder ripper it floats in deep like an UFO coming out of space. Stiff underfoot, you can ride as hard as you want, drop cornices, cliffs and massive pillows, gun down the hill at Mach 2, slalom between the trees, you name it. You can even ride in switch with this twin tip. No need to go to the slopes the beast is a powder killer, only for powder-filled steeps.

Who is the Atomic Backland Bent Chetler ski designed for?

Stiff and really demanding, this freeride backcountry ski is reserved to expert freeriders and athletes looking to invest in the ultimate powder weapon. Really exclusive, the Backland Bent Chetler is only for big powder days.

What are the main assets of the Atomic Backland Bent Chetler ski?

Structure - Construction

  • Carbon Reinforced  :

A lively carbon insert for light backcountry skis.

  • RENU Step Down Sidewall  :

In the heart of the ski there are different materials and essentially different kinds of wood that will determinate the behaviour of the ski. This poplar wood core is ideal for the powder, the all-mountain ski and the touring ski requiring strength and lightness.

  • Step down sidewall  :

the sidewalls influence the shock absorption and the energy transmission. Stable sidewalls, light, durable and symmetrical on each side.

Camber type

  • Classic camber  :

When the ski sits flat on the ground, the tip and the tail are in contact with it while the midsection rises above. It is this section that maximises the energy transmission towards the edge, ideal for piste skiing. It also provides a rebound which enhances energy return and pop.

  • Powder Rocker Tip  :

It is the most pronounced tip and tail rocker shape associated to a a camber underfoot. It delivers an incredible buoyancy and handiness in deep powder, crud snow and everything in between.

Rocker type

  • Tip and tail rocker  :

Full length rocker perfect for surfing powder. It floats easily and ensures smooth and effortless turns. Landings are easier too.

  • Extra-Thick Base and Edges  :

Our extruded bases of the 7000 serie offer a fast glide on all snow conditions, they are developed to attack on every terrains and easy to maintain.

  • HRZN Tech  :

HRZN Tech is the result of two years testing by Chris Benchetler and the Atomic Freeski product development team in Altenmarkt, Austria.

The aim was to create the ultimate design for playing in all types of powder. Having tried everything from shaved edges, to boat hulls, to totally new camber profiles, the eureka moment came by expanding the horizons of rocker. By blending an ABS sidewall construction with a revolutionary across-the-ski (horizontal) rocker, HRZN Tech adds 10% more surface area in the tip and tail without increasing swing weight. This encourages far better tracking through chop and crud, and less tip deflection – meaning increased stability, floatation and agility. This tip and tail design is set to reshape the future of powder skis.

  • Resist Edge  :

    More resistant edges.

  • Coating  :

Composed by 50% of colza oil, our coatings are ultra light and extremely resistant.
