Aku is a family-run company whose historic headquarters is in Montebelluna. This small town in north-eastern Italy has a strong history of manufacturingmountain shoes and is considered today as the world’s capital for sport footwear. Among the big names to have established R&D departments or manufacturing units there, are Fila, Lotto, Diadora, Scarpa, Head, Atomic, Tecnica, Nike, Time, Lange, RaidLight, … While Aku started out as a small operation, the brand is now mass producing. Known by a wide public as being one the first brands to use Gore-Tex membranes, Aku benefits from a solid reputation among mountain enthusiasts who praise its hiking boots, trekking and mountaineering boots or fast hiking shoes.
