What is the difference between Asolo hiking and mountaineering boots?

The difference between a hiking boot and a mountaineering boot generally lies in the stiffness of the sole and the welts to attach mountaineering crampons. A hiking boot sole is often more flexible to provide good foot roll while offering momentum out of the toe area between every step. A mountaineering boot will feature a semi-stiff or completely stiff outsole. With much less or no foot roll but more support and precision for technical sections and rocks. The stiffness increases the safety when using crampons. The latter are more stable on the stiffer structure of a mountaineering boot compared to a softer model.
