Dolomite

Century old company Dolomite is rooted in the eponymous mountain range, which strongly inspired it. The Italian brand has been designing apparel and footwear for outdoor mountain activities since Giuseppe Garbuio opened his shoe shop "Fabbrica Scarpe Montello" in 1897. In 1954, people taking part in the climb on the K2 wore Dolomite boots, and other difficult expeditions built the reputation of the brand’s products in terms of quality and reliability.

Dolomite men’s and women’s hiking shoes: a staple Italian brand!

Dolomite offers a wide range of men’s and women’s hiking shoes and boots with different shapes and lasts for optimal ergonomics. Dolomite goes all in and offers most of its models in either low cut or high ankle versions, even if you can find some mid cut boots in the brand’s offering. The goal is to cater to the needs of two types of hikers: those looking for maximum ankle support, even if it means a heavier weight with Dolomite high ankle boots and on the other hand, those who prefer lightness and speed with Dolomite low cut shoes.

Which Dolomite shoe or boot to buy?

From leisure walking shoes to trekking boots, Dolomite’s hiking footwear range is truly broad. This means you should choose carefully. To do so, you need to know if you prefer a high ankle or low cut model. For summer use, the trend is in favour of a low cut for more lightness and mobility. The popularity of trail running and fast hiking has set a new tone the last few years. Nowadays, you can do the GR 20 with low cut shoes. Of course, if you have ankle problems or are used to hiking with high ankle models, you are better off with boots.

The next step is to choose a Dolomite model according to your intended use:

For day hikes or leisure use you can look at models such as the Dolomite 54 Hike which offers good comfort with its leather suede upper, Vibram outsole and Gore Tex membrane (available in low cut and high ankle versions). Or the Dolomite Diagonal which features a Super Flex outsole to guarantee very good foot roll on easy trails and non-technical paths.

For longer hikes, you will find more all-terrain models in Dolomite’s range, such as the Zernex boot with a stiffer Vibram outsole for a good balance between traction and foot roll, deep lugs and a generous rand to tackle mountain trails and screes with ease.
