LEKI Lenhart GmbH was originally (in 1948) a workshop dedicated to making wood lettering. But Karl Lenhart was also a passionate skier and he thought he could use his tools to improve the ergonomics of his ski poles. At first, he worked and refined poled from other brands but in 1970 he made it to the next level and founded LEKI (LEnhart and KIrchheim). An important work was done in regards with the choice of materials in order to obtain the best performance possible. At first, the brand was only making alpine Leki ski poles until they entered the cross-country ski industry and the trekking with the first telescopic poles.
