LEKI Lenhart GmbH originally started as a joinery, founded in 1948. Specialising in wooden sign letters, the founder Karl Lenhart, who was also an avid skier, decided to use the tools and materials he had on hand to improve the ergonomics and quality of ski poles. Initially working on poles from well-known brands, he eventually began producing his own ski poles in 1970, under the brand LEKI (LEnhart and Kirchheim). Significant effort was made in selecting materials, including aluminium and new fibres. Initially was focused on ski poles, whether for alpine skiing, ski touring, or Nordic skiing, it later diversified and now also offers trekking poles including the first telescoping poles.
