Ocun is a climbing brand from the Czech Republic, founded by Pavel Hendrych. Pavel created his first climbing harness in 1988 and expanded into climbing shoes in 1992 with his brand Rock Pillars. These climbing shoes featured a rubber sole that extended over the heel. It wasn’t until 1998 that the Ocun brand was officially launched, introducing its first harness collection and, most notably, the first crash pads. These shock-absorbing mats catered to the growing popularity of bouldering. The following year, Ocun introduced another innovation: the Paddy 22, the first foldable crash pad. In 2001, Ocun developed a new adjustable sizing system for its harnesses, enabling adjustments with a single buckle. That same year, Ocun launched the first protective glove designed for intensive crack climbing: the Crack glove.
