Straight from Australia, the Quiksilver brand was created in 1969 in the city of Torquay under the leadership of John Law and Alan Green, two creative local surfers who launched the first boardshort designed for surfing. To do this, they abandon traditional buttons and rely on much more ergonomic snap fasteners. In 1976 Quiksilver USA was founded and enjoyed immediate success across the Atlantic, reaching a turnover of 5 million euros in 1980. With its American reputation, Quiksilver arrived in Europe 4 years later and definitively established its headquarters in Saint Jean de Luz in 1985. But the Quiksilver brand is really gaining in power and visibility thanks to the talent of a very young American surfer: Kelly Slater, who won the world title in 1992. Kelly Slater will become a surfing legend with no less than 11 world titles. The Quiksilver machine is then launched. The turnover skyrocketed on all continents and a new head office was created in Saint Jean de Luz bringing together the creation, design and marketing departments and a huge 700 m² showroom. In full expansion, Quiksilver became interested in the women's market and launched the Roxy brand in 1991. A Quiksilver store was even opened on the Champs Elysées in Paris and Quiksilver joined forces with the incredible Tony Hawk in 1999 to break into the skateboard segment. Today, Quiksilver products are renowned for their technical expertise and impeccable manufacturing quality.
