What is liquid chalk and what is it made of?
Liquid chalk is simply a mixture of classic powdered chalk and alcohol. The result is a magnesium carbonate solution in liquid form. Depending on the brand, the alcohol-to-magnesium carbonate ratio may vary, but the principle remains the same.
How to use liquid chalk?
This liquid solution is extremely easy to use. Just pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and rub it across your hands. The alcohol evaporates in a few seconds, and the chalk adheres to the skin, leaving your hands white. It’s important to wait until the alcohol has fully evaporated before climbing, otherwise the holds may be coated with liquid chalk residue.
Multiple use cases: climbing, crossfit, weightlifting, pole dance, gymnastics
Liquid chalk is increasingly popular—and sometimes even required—in climbing gyms, especially in bouldering halls. The idea is to eliminate clouds of airborne chalk dust that complicate ventilation and cleaning of surfaces and mats. But while liquid chalk is a real asset for climbing, it is also widely used in other indoor sports. Thanks to its sweat-reducing properties, this product ensures dry hands and excellent grip on a wide variety of apparatus. It is ideal for street workout, gymnastics, and circus arts.
