Lighter than the 12-point versions, 10-point mountaineering crampons offer a great balance between grip on hard snow and ice and minimal weight. By removing 2 front points from the crampon, manufacturers have managed to save some valuable grams. Some 10-point crampons are even ultra-lightweight, featuring minimalist or flexible connection systems such as the Petzl Leopard crampon, or the Blue Ice Harfang crampon.
