Single, Half, and Twin Dynamic Ropes

Dynamic ropes come in three main certifications: single, half, and twin, each designed to meet specific needs depending on the type of climbing you practice. Single ropes, made of a single strand, offer excellent strength with diameters ranging from 8.5 to 10.5 mm. They are ideal for sport climbing indoors or on single-pitch crags, and are easily identified by a circled "1".

Half ropes, on the other hand, consist of two separate, thinner strands (7.3 to 9 mm), often in different colors for easier handling. They are particularly suited for multi-pitch routes, mountaineering, or traditional climbing, allowing you to clip one or both strands depending on the protection points to reduce rope drag.

Finally, twin ropes, always used as a pair, require both strands to be clipped together at every protection point. While less versatile, they are useful for activities like glacier travel or setting up fixed lines, but do not allow for three-person rope teams.

Each rope type requires specific belaying and progression techniques to ensure safety and efficiency.

Multi-rated ropes are true all-rounders, meeting several certifications at once, so they can be used as single, half, or twin ropes depending on your needs. Thanks to their innovative design, they offer great flexibility to adapt to various terrains and climbing styles, such as multi-pitch, mountaineering, or sport climbing. Their ability to meet multiple standards makes them an ideal choice for climbers looking for a single rope for a variety of uses, while always following the appropriate belaying techniques for each setup.

Different Diameters for Your Needs: 9.8, 10.2, 10 mm...

The diameter of a climbing rope plays a crucial role in its performance, durability, and intended use. Thin ropes, from 7.3 mm to 9 mm, are lightweight and ideal for half or twin rope systems, offering better handling and reducing the weight carried on multi-pitch routes or in mountaineering. Thicker ropes, ranging from 8.5 mm to 10.5 mm, are generally used as single ropes for sport climbing, as they provide excellent abrasion resistance and a longer lifespan. However, a larger diameter can create more friction in belay devices. The choice of diameter should be matched to your intended use, skill level, and belay device to ensure both safety and comfort.
