Product description — Hawx Prime Xtd 120 Boa Dust Black

The Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA Dust Black is a freerando boot designed for experienced skiers looking for a model that offers precision on the descent and practicality during hiking. With its 120 flex, quick BOA® Fit System lacing on the forefoot, Free/Lock 4.5 ski/walk mode, and adjustable Memory Fit shell, it combines support, power transfer, and cuff mobility to move efficiently between the resort, the edges of the slopes, and skinning ascents.

What is the intended use of the Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA Dust Black ski boot?

The Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA Dust Black is designed for freerando with a focus on downhill skiing. Its 120 flex provides a good level of stiffness for precise skiing on hard snow, groomed terrain, or challenging slopes, while remaining more accessible than the 130-flex version. The Free/Lock 4.5 mechanism allows for 54° of movement at the cuff to facilitate walking and skinning, then locks securely to restore alpine performance during the descent. The BOA® Fit System allows for quick, precise, and even tightening of the forefoot, while the 40-mm Velcro strap provides additional support around the shin. With its 100 mm boot volume and Memory Fit thermoforming, the shell can be customized to the foot to improve comfort and a precise fit.

Who is the Atomic Hawx Prime Xtd 120 Boa Dust Black ski boot designed for?

It’s designed for advanced to expert skiers who want a stiff, versatile, and high-performance boot for switching between resort skiing, skin-up ascents, and freeride descents. Its 120 flex requires good technical skill and active pressure on the tongue, while offering a more adaptable feel than the Hawx Prime XTD 130 BOA.

What are the main features of the Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA Dust Black ski boot?

What is the Free/Lock 4.5 ski/walk mode used for?

The Free/Lock 4.5 mode allows you to easily switch from walk mode to ski mode. In walk mode, the cuff has a 54° range of motion to facilitate movement and ascents on skins. In ski mode, the cuff locks mechanically to ensure stiffness, support, and power transfer during descents.

Is the liner thermoformable?

Yes, the Mimic Platinum liner, featuring a Flex zone at the Achilles tendon, includes thermoformable sections that adapt to the foot and ankle to improve comfort, support, and a precise fit.

Is the boot compatible with GripWalk bindings?

Yes, its GripWalk ISO 23223 toe caps are compatible with GripWalk bindings and make walking on flat terrain easier.

How does it differ from the Hawx Prime XTD 130 BOA?

The Hawx Prime XTD 120 BOA offers a more accessible flex than the Hawx Prime XTD 130 BOA—120 versus 130. It maintains crisp power transfer on descents while offering more adaptable performance throughout the day, making it better suited for skiers seeking a balance between power, comfort, and versatility.
