The X-IUM Carbon Premium Skate model is without a doubt one of Rossignol Nordic's biggest successes. The advantage of this top-of-the-range shoe is that it features efficient and now widely proven technologies, while remaining affordable compared to most of its competitors. Now replaced by the World Cup Racing model, it is nonetheless an excellent shoe. 

What are the characteristics of the Rossignol X-IUM Carbon Premium Skate boot?   

In recent years, carbon has taken a predominant place on cross-country ski boots and more particularly on skating boots, all of which are equipped with lateral stabilisation collars. When most models came out, Rossignol had opted for a slightly different but much less expensive concept of gluing carbon parts together rather than moulding them in one piece. This manufacturing process has now largely proven its worth, and even if it involves significantly more weight, it offers remarkable efficiency as well as a more affordable price to the average skier. The chassis/carbon collar combination provides optimum grip in skating and reduces lateral torsion in thurst. The liner, which was the last big evolution of this boot two years ago, is still relevant on this model and even on the new Race model, proof of its comfort and the overall support it provides. The Speedlace Lock lacing system is directly attached to a nylon strap that runs through the buttress of the foot to provide a full circumferential fit of the boot. This results in a precise fit and provides excellent ski control and thrust for a great feeling on the skis. If there is a significant difference on the boot, it is the appearance of a new higher gaiter with Velcro on the top of the boot, which provides additional support to that of the liner without causing any discomfort in ankle flexion. This X-IUM Carbon Premium Skate will remain one of the most appreciated models by cross-country skiers for its quality/price ratio and its level of performance.   

Who is the Rossignol X-IUM Carbon Premium Skate shoe for?  

This boot has been designed for competition and it has already proven to be a great success for some skiers who have become legends in their sport. That said, for a boot at this level in the range, it offers quite a rare tolerance, especially as regards the liner. Of course, you need a helping hand to put on the neoprene liner the first few times, but apart from that, the liner is particularly comfortable with a generous insole volume at the toe box and at the instep. It can therefore be suitable for competitors as well as for athletic and regular skiers who wish to have fun and make technical progress with a boot that offers completely different sensations from a plastic-soled model.
