What size Salomon ski boots should you choose?
To determine your Salomon ski boot size, begin by measuring the length of both feet and use the measurement from the longer foot. Ski boots use the Mondopoint sizing system, which corresponds to foot length in centimetres: a foot measuring 26.5 cm therefore equates to a Mondopoint size of 26.5.
For an accurate measurement, place your heel against a wall and measure the distance to the tip of your longest toe. Wear the socks you normally use for skiing and measure both feet. The Glisshop foot measuring tool can also help you determine your foot length and provide an indication of its width.
How do Salomon ski boots fit?
Rather than assuming that Salomon ski boots generally run large or small, it is better to refer to the Mondopoint size and last volume of each model. At the same length, two Salomon boots may feel different depending on their width, construction and liner shape.
A boot that is too large can result in insufficient support and reduced precision, while one that is too short or narrow can quickly become uncomfortable. Comfort remains important for recreational skiing, but you should avoid deliberately choosing an oversized boot to gain extra room, as the liner gradually packs out with use.
Length and width: two measurements to consider
Length alone is not enough to determine the correct fit. Foot width, often compared with the boot's last, also plays an essential role. Salomon offers a range of constructions to suit different foot shapes: lasts of around 98 mm generally provide precise support for narrow to medium-width feet, while 100 mm options deliver greater versatility and models around 102 mm are better suited to wider feet.
Fit and flex: matching your boots to your skiing
Fit describes how the boot wraps around and supports the foot, while flex refers to its stiffness. A relatively soft flex makes it easier to pressure the ski and is generally suitable for beginners or skiers seeking a more forgiving feel. Conversely, a stiffer flex provides greater support and precision for more powerful or technically advanced skiers.
With Salomon, the choice of fit also depends on the different boot families. Some prioritise a close, precise fit, while others offer more internal volume to improve comfort for wider feet. Your ability, build, skiing style and preferred level of support should therefore be considered alongside your size.
Salomon boots designed for young skiers
Salomon also offers children's ski boots in a range of sizes and flex ratings. Models for younger users also use Mondopoint sizing and are designed to suit the skier's developing foot shape and ability, from their first runs through to more performance-oriented junior boots.
The main Salomon ski boot ranges
S/Pro Supra: versatility, precision and comfort
The S/Pro Supra family has a prominent place in Salomon's alpine range. It includes models with flex ratings and volumes suited to different ability levels, for both women and men. The standard versions retain traditional buckle closures, while the S/Pro Supra S BOA and Dual BOA use the BOA® Fit System to distribute pressure more precisely around the foot. Dual BOA versions add a second dial, allowing separate adjustment of the lower shell and cuff.
S/Pro Alpha C BOA: a precise fit for performance skiing
The S/Pro Alpha C BOA range is aimed at skiers seeking a close-fitting hold and precise power transmission. Its 98 mm last prioritises accuracy, while the BOA® system allows the closure to be fine-tuned. Salomon offers this construction in several flex ratings, covering everything from intermediate skiing to more dynamic and aggressive use.
S/Pro Delta: extra room for wide feet
With the S/Pro Delta family, Salomon offers an alternative for skiers who need more room inside their boots. Its 102 mm last, combined on certain models with cuff adjustment, is better suited to broad feet and different calf shapes. The range includes both buckle versions and models equipped with the BOA® Fit System, combining comfort, secure foot hold and precise closure adjustment.
Shift Alpha: greater versatility for freeride skiing
The Salomon Shift Alpha range is designed for skiers moving between groomed pistes, freeride terrain and areas requiring greater mobility. Its construction combines a precise hold with a walk mode on applicable models, while retaining a downhill performance focus. Several BOA® versions and different flex ratings allow the boot to be matched to the skier's ability and level of commitment.
Salomon boots for young skiers
Salomon also develops several boots specifically for children and young skiers, including the T and Equipe families. The models vary in volume, stiffness and closure system, supporting everything from first descents to progression towards more performance-focused skiing.
