What Does K2 Offer in Ski Touring?
The American brand K2 offers two ranges of ski touring models: the Wayback range for men and the Talkback range for women. Both ranges are similar in construction choices, technologies, sidecuts, and graphics. For men, the range includes five different models, from the Wayback 80 to the Wayback 106. For women, there are three models: the Talkback 84, 88, and 96. The Wayback 84 and Talkback models are built to suit intermediate to advanced skiers looking to explore ski touring. The other models are designed for more advanced or expert levels. This ensures everyone can find the perfect ski based on their needs and the conditions.
What Are the Advantages of K2 Touring Skis?
The K2 Wayback and Talkback models incorporate various technologies to provide an excellent ski touring experience.
All-Terrain Rocker
A long and progressive rocker at the front of the ski enhances float and manoeuvrability, while a lighter rocker at the tail ensures precise trajectory control. This feature is present on all Wayback and Talkback skis.
Paulownia Tour Lite Core
This paulownia wood core delivers an outstanding weight-to-power ratio and is featured on all Wayback and Talkback skis, except for the Wayback 80, which uses a Balsa/Paulownia Tour Ultra Lite core. This lighter core makes climbing easier but sacrifices some stability during the descent.
Ti SpYne
The Ti SpYne is a titanal reinforcement specifically developed for these lightweight ski touring ranges. It enhances stability, reliability, and shock absorption. This technology is present on all models except the Wayback 84 and Talkback 84.
Carbon Overdrive
The Carbon Overdrive features a unidirectional carbon fibre structure that reinforces the ski across its entire length and width. This design increases torsional stiffness and stability during descents without adding weight. This technology is included in all models except the Wayback 84 and Talkback 84.
Snophobic
A small but significant detail: the Snophobic Topsheet. This unique top layer prevents snow from accumulating on the ski when breaking trail in powder. It’s a thoughtful feature that enhances user comfort. This topsheet can be found on all Wayback and Talkback skis.
