Product description — Malavita Warm Gray
The Burton Malavita is the go-to binding in Burton’s freestyle lineup: a high-end model designed for riders who know exactly what they want underfoot and won’t compromise on comfort. It has built a solid reputation on the slopes and in snow parks, season after season, to the point of being adopted by pros before hitting the shops.
What’s the deal with the Burton Malavita binding?
The Malavita is a freestyle-oriented, versatile binding: it’s in its element on snowpark features (rails, kickers, boxes), but it handles the rest of the mountain with ease when the day calls for it. The flex of the entire setup (baseplate, spoiler, and straps) is firm and responsive: it transmits your pressure instantly and provides precise control, whether you’re landing a trick or carving a turn. The boot entry system is classic, with two straps and buckles: you adjust the fit every time you step in, tightening by hand without tools. The interface with the board is based on the Re:Flex™ construction, Burton’s system that allows the baseplate to flex naturally with the board rather than dampening its vibrations.
Who is the Burton Malavita binding designed for?
The Malavita is designed for intermediate to expert riders who are looking for total connection between their feet and their board, without compromising on durability or comfort at the end of the day.
- The advanced freestyler who tackles the park with precision and wants power transfer without energy loss
- The all-around rider who switches between the park and the groomed runs and needs a binding that performs well in both settings
- Riders who spend long days on the board and don’t want to feel their feet by late afternoon
A top choice if you’re looking for a responsive, durable, and comfortable binding for intensive freestyle riding.
Avoid this if you’re a beginner or looking for a flexible, forgiving binding to learn the basics.
What are the main features of the Burton Malavita binding?

Durability
Do the Malavita’s straps really hold the boot securely, even during aggressive tricks?
Yes. The ankle strap uses an asymmetrical Asym Hammockstrap™ design that conforms to the shape of your foot to wrap around the boot without creating pressure points. Combined with the Heel Hammock, which locks your heel into the baseplate, you stay firmly secured even during hard landings.
How does the Double Take Buckles Featuring Insta-Click system work?
These buckles (the clips that fasten your straps) snap shut with a single, quick motion, without having to fumble with your fingers while wearing gloves. It’s a real time-saver at the base of the lift or when it’s cold.
Does the Malavita feature cushioning under the baseplate?
Yes. The baseplate incorporates two distinct systems: localized B3 gel and the Re:Flex FullBED Cushioning System, which covers the entire contact surface. In practice, vibrations from hard snow and landings from jumps are absorbed before they reach your ankles, which is why the binding remains comfortable during long, intense sessions.
