Product description — Thunderstorm

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Bataleon Men's Thunderstorm is the high-performance freeride board in the Bataleon lineup: a directional board designed for big slopes, cliff areas, and powder days that demand commitment. It’s designed for advanced to expert snowboarders looking for a board that can rise to the challenge in the most demanding conditions.

What is the Bataleon Men’s Thunderstorm snowboard designed for?

The Men’s Thunderstorm is a freeride board designed for aggressive off-piste riding: big slopes, cliff lines, variable snow, and powder. Its directional shape makes it precise and efficient in turns and powder, but less comfortable riding switch. The classic camber provides pop when exiting turns and requires an aggressive riding style to unlock its full potential. SideKick technology raises the edges at the nose and tail, which makes turn entries smoother and improves performance in deep snow.

Who is the Bataleon Men’s Thunderstorm snowboard designed for?

The Men’s Thunderstorm is designed for advanced to expert snowboarders who ride with commitment and seek to push their limits in the most demanding terrain.

  • Riders who are comfortable off-piste and want a stable, precise board at high speeds
  • Snowboarders who prefer freeriding and powder days
  • Riders looking for a board that can handle tough conditions without losing control

Best for those who are comfortable on challenging terrain and want a board that delivers in the most extreme conditions.

Avoid this if you’re a beginner or looking for a board for the park and kickers.

What are the main features of the Bataleon Men’s Thunderstorm snowboard?

What role do the Carbon Stringers play in the board’s performance?

Carbon Stringers incorporate carbon inserts into the board’s construction: this very lightweight and responsive material enhances pop when exiting turns, improves precision at high speeds, and absorbs some of the vibrations.

Does the Ultra Glide S base have a real impact on glide performance?

The high-molecular-density Ultra Glide S base provides good impact resistance while maintaining high glide performance, even on transformed or abrasive snow.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
