Description

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Burton Cartographer is a freeride snowboard, with a directional shape consisting of a wide and stiff nose, a slightly tapered tail and overall medium flex. It benefits from a quality construction, with a Super Fly 800 G wood core that combines two types of wood, a hard and a soft one, reducing the total weight of the board while retaining good performances. The Dualzone EGD technology positions the wood fibres at 90° along the edges contrary to the wood fibres placed longitudinally on the rest of the board. This improves responsiveness and edge hold.

What is the program of the Burton Cartographer snowboard?

Because of its directional construction, the Cartographer is a snowboard designed for descending and turning. The nose is wide and stiff, the flex is medium on the rest of the board to remain accessible and not burn your legs in a couple of laps. The tail is slightly narrower and the binding inserts have 25 mm of setback. As a whole, it provides fun turn initiations on any terrain, precision and high-speed stability, as well as easy float in powder. The classic camber offers very good grip and rebound for carving. You can change terrains and snow types at will, go from carving to slash turns between the trees or have fun tracing a beautiful line in an open off-piste area.

Who is the Burton Cartographer snowboard for?

Accessible from the intermediate/advanced level, the Cartographer will satisfy a snowboarder who wants to ride groomers and progress in freeride on any terrain, with an efficient board that remains accessible.

Tips and advice

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
