Product description — Counterbalance Sun Glow

Note: The colour of the bases may be different from the picture displayed on the website, manufacturers combine colours randomly.

The Burton Counterbalance Sun Glow snowboard is a versatile unisex board designed to ride the entire mountain without ever feeling restricted. It’s aimed at riders who want a single board capable of handling groomed runs, powder, and some fun sections on the rest of the mountain.

What is the Burton Counterbalance Sun Glow snowboard designed for?

It’s an all-mountain board with a freeride focus, at home anywhere on the mountain with a clear preference for fresh snow and the edges of the groomed runs. Its directional shape, with a well-defined tip and tail, makes it more effective in turns and powder than when riding switch. The classic camber, arched in the center, provides pop, grip, and precision, though at the cost of a slightly more demanding ride. This combination gives it stability and floatation on both groomed snow and deep powder.

Who is the Burton Counterbalance Sun Glow snowboard designed for?

The Counterbalance Sun Glow is designed for intermediate to advanced riders who want a versatile board to improve their skills across the entire mountain. A top choice if you’re looking for a versatile board to explore the entire mountain. Avoid this board if you ride exclusively in the park.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Burton Counterbalance Sun Glow Snowboard

Does the Counterbalance Sun Glow float well in powder?

Yes, that’s one of its strengths: the directional shape and dynamic flex provide good float as soon as the snow gets deep.

Can you ride this board switch?

That’s not what it’s designed for: the directional shape and classic camber clearly favor riding in the normal direction, with a distinct front and back.

How do you adjust the bindings on the Counterbalance Sun Glow?

It uses Burton’s proprietary The Channel system, which allows for fine-tuning the position and spacing of the bindings rather than being limited to fixed inserts.

What’s the difference between the Counterbalance Sun Glow and the Counterbalance Amoeba?

Both share exactly the same construction, the same directional shape, and the same feel on the snow. The Sun Glow is available in unisex sizing designed for a wide range of body types, while the Amoeba is tailored for women.

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
