Carbon reinforcement, a premium core and a pronounced traditional camber make it designed for committed, precise and explosive riding.

What is the Burton Custom X Etched snowboard designed for?

The Custom X Etched is a freestyle-oriented all-mountain snowboard: it adapts to the entire resort, from groomers to park features, with a performance-focused feel. The directional twin shape means a symmetrical outline, like a twin, but with the inserts set slightly back to improve manoeuvrability in turns.

The traditional camber delivers strong edge grip and lively pop. This profile requires committed riding and solid pressure control, but rewards that input with direct precision and responsiveness.

On hard or icy runs, the Frostbite edges, which protrude slightly more underfoot, bite where others start to wash out.

Can the Custom X Etched be ridden comfortably in switch?

Yes: its directional twin shape gives it a symmetrical outline, allowing you to ride switch without any noticeable imbalance. The inserts are simply set slightly back, which does not affect switch-riding comfort.

How does the carbon affect the board’s behaviour?

The carbon reinforcements integrated into the nose and tail via the Squeezebox High profile make the response to pressure almost instantaneous: when you load up the board, it returns energy without delay. The 45° glass fibres add torsional stiffness while keeping the construction lighter, which is noticeable in carving precision and liveliness on landings.

Do Frostbite edges really make a difference on hard snow?

Tips and advice

Size of your board?

The length of your board is extremely important. Several parameters have to be taken into account : Your height, your weight, your level and your program (allmountain-freeride-freestyle). We created a calculator that will tell you what size of board would suit you best, once you've completed these parameters. You can also call us (+33 4 73 26 98 47) to get a personal advice from our experienced team.
The snowboards you'll purchase on our website are all factory waxed and tuned. That means it's ready to hit the slopes. However, that doesn't work forever, and in order to keep your equipment at the top performance, you need to maintain base and edges on a regular basis.
Maintaining your skis is essential to ensure an optimal glide and grip. Frequency of maintenance may vary depending on how often you use your board, or on how damaged it is. We recommend that you wax it every 10 riding days, and at the end of the season. Edges need to be tuned up to 2 times per season if you want to keep a good edge control. However, don't get them overtuned because every tuning takes some of the steel off.

When your base is damaged and shows shallow scratches or rock gouge, it is possible to repair it.

You can get these repairs done by professional ski shop, or if the gouge is only superficial you may repair it yourself. To do so, you will need special tools and materials such as wax, Ptex for repairing bases, edge tuners, etc. You can find them on our website.
